Of course it's legal! The Content Bay is a part of the Ameibo video-on-demand service. Ameibo currently offers movies from several major studios such as Warner Bros and Paramount as well as 50 other minor and independent studios from around the world.
The entire process takes about five (5) minutes to complete.
In brief:

No, not at all. We want you as a content owner to maximize your profit. You are free to set any deals you like- with any distributors you can find. We're just a great option!
Since the movie you'll be selling is a “purchase” version that can be transferred between different devices such as computers, iPods, iPhones, Apple TV's, Xbox:es etc and
that is for the consumer to keep forever- we think the value of your product is high!
We recommend a consumer price between USD 3 - 10, all depending on movie quality, length, actors and the general production. Remember that lower prices most likely
generate higher volumes. In the end- it's all up to you!
Our service is performance based so we only get paid when your movies are sold. We split the end consumer price with a markup of 20% and €1 fixed fee. So let's say you want €2 for your movie,
the consumer price will be €3.50 . If you want €4 , the consumer will pay €6 - you get the picture…
The minimum end consumer price is 2 EUR (a little less than 3 USD).
Our markup covers:
- Hosting your movies on our servers
- Distributing it to your customers
- Taking care of site and support
You choose whenever you want to cash in the money you earned.
We use PayPal to handle payments to any account of your choice so as long as you have a PayPal account you're all set. If you don't have a PayPal account- sign up here.
All movies uploaded to The Content Bay will be sold as purchase versions (EST- Electronic Sales Through) meaning that the right to watch the movie never expires and is the customers to keep and watch for as long as she likes. We don't add copy protection to any movies uploaded to The Content Bay since there is currently no hardware neutral DRM on the market.
As of today, only major motion pictures studios demand DRM for ESTs. If you represent a major studio, please contact us. If you represent yourself or an Indie Studio,
we still recommend that you sell your EST without DRM. If you want us to add a rental version - where DRM is necessary – we can do it but we'll charge you 10 USD per title.

Well. To put it bluntly- there is always a risk with all digital content ending up in the wrong places. However, selling your movies on Ameibo is not a bigger risk compared to selling it as a hard copy DVD.
Actually almost any kind of movie file is perfectly ok. We accept a wide range of formats: mov, mp4, mp2, qt, flv, mpeg, avi, wmv, mkv to name a few.
Simple DVD-rips (iso, img) won't work
Convert the DVD to a standardized format using for example Handbrake(free). Upload the generated file to us.

No, not really. The movie itself is fine.
If you have subtitles for your movie that you want to distribute as well, the easiest way is to just add these file(s) besides the main movie file in the upload process.
The easiest and most used format is “srt”. The files will then be distributed to the customers as is, and can be read most media players out there (VLC, Windows Media Player, QuickTime)
We have no absolute requirement here, and if you feel that your content is fine as it is, you should use it. As a rule of thumb, you can say that a resolution much lower than 720x480 pixels probably will look bad for the customer. Regarding file size, a bigger source file will generate higher quality in the output file. A source file that is 10 GB for an hour of play time is great, while only 500 MB for the same play time is in most cases pretty bad.
The main movie file you've uploaded will automatically be transcoded into a standardized format, so every customer will know what they get when they purchase a movie at The Content Bay. All other files (subs, artwork etc) you've uploaded in the same session will be delivered to the customer as they are.
We use the container format mp4. Inside this container file, the actual video is encoded with the latest, most modern codec available today: h264.
The audio is encoded with aac (Advanced Audio Codec).
This combinations is referred to with different names such as MPEG-4 AVC, JVT or H.264/AVC.
The main point is that this is the latest format with best perceived quality per bit rate, and is fully playable on all platforms.
Depending on the size of the movie file and the load on our servers, the process may take anything between 30 minutes and 24 hours.
